About

I am a functional and sculptural ceramic artist based in South Freeport, Maine. Originally from Philadelphia, I moved to Maine to explore coastal living and study at Maine College of Art where my early interest in clay and sculpture led me to the ceramics department. I have been working in clay for more than twelve years.

I currently work in cone 6 white stoneware and use a selective palette of glazes. My process includes throwing forms, adding marks or abstract drawings, and, on occasion, additional sculptural elements. After the forms have been fired once and glazed, I rub off the excess, allowing traces to settle into the textured and marked areas. I then spray or dip the pots in a secondary glaze.

Currently, I am most interested in the delicate balance between the fragile and the functional.
